Background and achievements:

Match Fishing has been my life for over 15 years.  Having grown up in Norfolk, my routes are on the broads catching big weights of roach and bream.

As I moved around the country I have experienced all sorts of different match scenes with my results and consistency being rewarded with a place in the England set up.

Team fishing is at the route of everything I enjoy, fishing for Barnsley Blacks and England gives me a chance to share and learn from some of the best in the world.

Being part of the Preston team has come on the back of my initial hard work, but the last 6 years with the company have seen my fishing progress with the support of a great team and equipment.

Most notable achievements:

  • England International
  • £25,000 Parkdean Masters Champion
  • 2 x UK Sensas Challenge Final Champion
  • White Acres Preston Festival Winner
  • 2 x Drennan Knockout Finalist
  • Cobhouse record holder with 513lb in 5hrs.
  • 7 x Kamasan British Open Finalist
  • £25,000 Fish O mania Finalist
  • £50,000 Maver Match This Finalist
  • World Club Championship Bronze medal
  • World Youth Championships Silver medal

Preston Consultant:

I have been a member of the Preston team for over 6 years and in that time I have been lucky enough to be involved with many of the product developments and media relations we have built on in that time.

Now my role at Preston Innovations is to continue promoting and developing the brand in the UK, but manage product development for the European market as well.  Our goal is to expand across Europe in the coming years, taking our superb range of products, and making them accessible and adjusted to suit the need of European anglers.

My fishing:

I enjoy all aspects of fishing, but my passion is match fishing.  To be in a competitive situation with others anglers and the environment is the ultimate sporting battle for me.  My favourite type of matches are those when you are getting plenty of bites, but not too many that it is easy to catch.  For example I love fishing the River Yare in Norfolk, decisions need to be made regarding your choice of tactics, what species will you target, and what will the tide do during the match.  Making those decisions adds an extra dimension to the competition and never lets things get boring or repetitive.

My biggest motivation in fishing is the fact that you will never stop learning about a sport that you love, every trip poses a different challenge and the desire to do better gets me out of bed in a morning!

My favourite products:

Absolute Station - I would simply be lost without this bit of kit. For me an anglers box is the base of which any session is formed. Comfortable, practical and perfect for all my accessories. I wouldn't be without my absolute station.

Pulla kits - having confidence and control over a hooked fish is really important to achieving a match winning bag. The pulla kit is the neatest and lightest way to achieve that. The new roller pulla has added durability to this already effective system.

Supercrush F1 -  This mix is the base for all my commercial fishing, big carp, bream and even roach find this mix irresistible.  I like to over wet the mix to start with, then as it absorbs the water, it becomes perfect for adding to pellets for the method, on the pole with worms and casters, or even down the edge for a lump or two late on.

Buoyant band ums -  These beauties have become my No 1 method hookbait in the last year or two.  There buoyancy always brings them to the fishes attention, meaning you get more clean takes and a good hook hold.  Try Pineapple for bream and F1s, and Strawberry for big carp.
